Australian Labor Party Leader, ‘Kim Beazley has announced that Australian Workplace Agreements (AWA) will be abolished under the ALP. The announcement was made in his address to the New South Wales ALP conference where Mr. Beazley outlined his vision for a land of decency and fairness. Kim Beazley believes AWA’s are nothing more than a means to cut wages, conditions, and undermine decency and fairness in our workplaces and announced that a Beazley Labor government will abolish John Howard's Australian Workplace Agreements and that they would not be replaced by other statutory individual contracts. He says that the ALP will be guided by a one core principle, when you put in, you get back and that is his govts pact with middle class Australia. He said that when Australian workers put in a good day's work they'll get job security, decent wages, decent conditions, decent protections against unfair dismissal.

Now the ACTU has vowed to maintain pressure on the Federal Government over industrial relations laws until the next election and beyond, if necessary. The peak union body has launched its latest series of advertisements that will be aired from tonight, featuring real people it says have been adversely impacted by the Government's workplace laws.
