Not that Im Voting for Labor but I know whats going on
Much as it was completely one-sided and delusional at times, refer to Marky Mark's diaries:
- Gillard must lead
- Crean can't lead, but must stay because he's the only one besides Beazo with any ministerial experience
- Conroy, Swan and Smith are out to destroy the party from the inside
- Beazo is useless and mostly follows what these 3 say
The other big theme, that Rudd is a media whore, hasn't really surfaced. Strange that he hasn't really chimed in with a comment.
No, Gillard doesn't have the numbers. Even if she did, she can't take over now. She's learned from Marky Mark, knows that she needs another Beazo defeat, that she needs a full term as opposition leader for the electorate to get to know her. To get rid of her Socialist Left tag. What she did in the last few days was obviously to make her distinct from Beazo.
Is the timing right? More or less.
Of course the usual commentators and Conroy's mates will say this is just more internal bickering that will kill the party. Crean's battle made it essential. If she doesn't jump in with her 2 cents now, what, is she supposed to wait till there's no other news? Just before the elections? She does it now, and what we have is a clear successor. Beazo has no hope for the next election anyway. Might as well put her best foot forward to prepare herself for Beazo's inevitable defeat.
And anyway, this is all just about the opposition leader. The government will not change while the economy chugs along. The electorate doesn't really care about anything else.
For what it's worth, I too will never change my vote to Labor if she's made leader anyway.
Mr Howards latest welcome new Gun Laws is one reason
