ANTHONY Callea may be living in harmony now that his sexuality is no
longer a guarded secret, but the singer has taken a pot shot at
traffic reporter Vic Larusso for outing him on live radio.
The Channel 10 eye-in-the-sky dragged the Australian Idol out of the
closet when recounting an anecdote on how he met the singer.
But Callea told the latest issue of pink paper Sydney Star Observer:
"The thing I was most pissed off about was that he called me a snob.
"I can't even remember him coming up to our table that night we met.
"I was out with a group of people. I didn't know who he was and he
didn't introduce himself to me."
The article in the Star Observer said while the gay rumours started
circulating almost from the moment he made his debut on Australian
Idol, it is only now the singer has felt comfortable enough to
embrace, acknowledge and celebrate his sexuality.
"I was 21 and trying to find myself," Callea said of his early years
of fame. "I knew who I was but being comfortable is completely
different."
But Callea said the whole episode has disappeared as quickly as the
media storm erupted.
Callea said he was now just focussing on his career, his life and
spending as much time with his partner Paul as humanly possible when
he is about to travel the length and breadth of the country.
