It has been posted on this board that apparently the Federal Government is going to spend $6 billion on the next Gun Buyback over a five year period.
The question must be raised that if this is correct would the money be better spent in areas such as Health, Education, and the likes.
Maybe a proportion of it could be spent on upgrading Customs facilities in checking containers and other avenues where illegal firearms enter Australia.
This posting is not for the purpose of creating friction between the pro and anti gun factions. It is merely a question of where should Taxpayers funds be going.

Gun Buybacks are a proven waste of government resources. Anyone thinking any different should try to prove how the money spent makes society safer. TIZ www.theinfozone.net/salw-news.html

Why don't you get your facts right?
Mr Pye, Thank you for your enquiry regarding a further round of Gun Buyback's in Australia. The claims by members of Gun Control Australia are not founded and the Federal Government has no future Gun Buyback scheme in the pipeline and certainly no plan to spend $6 billion on such a scheme. Once again, thank you for your enquiry. Dane Fuller Electorate Office/Media Office of Sussan Ley MP Member for Farrer Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister for Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry

CARDIGAN2 - HOW MUCH IS IT GOING TO COST US? « Thread Started on May 20, 2006, 2:59pm »
Cardigan2
I have read your postings regarding the next Gun Buyback and ask you one very important question
HOW MUCH IS IT GOING TO COST US?
I ask because many people in Australia, including myself are very concerned about a shortfall of funds for our Hospital Services and I dare say, like myself wonder if the funds would be better off spent in the area of Health, where it is urgently needed.
This is a very important question. ___________________________________________________

This information contained therein may also tingle the fancy of the massive membership of the Shooters Party. The entire five of you.
But please answer this question firstly,
How have I ever not allowed anyone to post or stopped freedom of expression on this board?
And thank you for being so gracious about your fatal feral error.
Now I see youve been busy posting huge slabs of spam from the poison pen of cortez from brisbane of army fame. He wrote that.
Thats now who you are in Bed with and my your lips are getting bigger
How much will it cost?
Well perhaps I shouldnt answer a person who would sell their soul to the devil or someone like cortez or you but for the sake of peace and quiet Not a problem.
I read this in my newsletter.
And I am glad you asked that Question as I have been waiting for you to ask.
Asking me of all people to put a price on human life. If I were to answer it would be an open cheque book.
It all can be done and thy will be done for us praying petitioners for the price of say the cost of a campaign to remove feral rats.
The last buyback was more expensive but boy did it work.
Senate estimates put it at around 6 Billion. Now this one should be prolonged over a five year period.
This is to gain maximum political benefits
and votes from a joyus population anxious to see granny grow old and not be blasted to kingdom come. For Gun owners the pain will be gradual and sort of like waiting on death row.
Not that I would like to prolong the agony.
Guns will have to be delivered personaly to the blast furnace as they are no longer accepted for postage by Australia Post. Australians like Qing up and this will be quite visual.
I know many gun hoarders will be gracious and give the benefits of the money received from the sale of their guns to their favorite charity not like last time.
( they just went out and bought more)
One Billion a year over 6 Years is not that much.
For the same cost to the Taxpayer as for instance a federal feral Rats Pest control program.
Both would have benefits.
Or we could just deport all gunowners to Gunland and save the money and spend it on an ageing population.
If we did that weed at least have more of them left.
Sorry . Should have said we would. instead of weed (Bad word to use in a post to you) Just being gracious

Many thanks for the information Cardigan,
So, $6 billion dollars over the next 5 years huh. Hmmm, that sort of money could save a hell of a lot of lives in our under-funded Health system, don't you think?.
Again, thankyou for graciously providing this important information. ____________________________________________________ So I checked: -

Totally agree, Cardigan says the Govt is going to spend $6 billion over 5 years. It sounds a bit like a cardi-porky but I have contacted Sussan Ley MP and she is following it up for me. ____________________________________________________

Good Morning Sussan,
As a resident of Albury I am naturally in your electorate. I have concerns of recent claims by members of 'Gun Control Australia' that the Federal Government proposes to fund the next 'Gun Buyback' to the amount of $6 billion to be spent over 5 years.
I am sure you would agree that the Hospital system in Australia for starters would dearly cherish to have this sort of money given. It would of course save many more lives than what a 'Gun Buyback' would.
I ask please, is this proposal by Federal Government correct?, if not, could you advise how much will be spent.
I look forward to your reply.
Yours sincerely
