The May 1 Immigration Rallies -- Structured to Divide America
The more I look at how our mainstream media covers a story, the less I respect the process. Looking world-wide at what is being covered is always interesting. There have been stories covered in Australia and other countries which I have read, and covered on this site and seen that story make it onto North American media two to three weeks later. Often the msm will all leap onto a story enmass and cover it to the exclusion of all other news.
We saw classic examples of that during coverage of Hurricane Katrina where rumours and hearsay was reported as fact. The corrections were reported months later, if at all. The same thing happened on CNN during their coverage of the 911 attacks where several days after the attacks they were bringing on "experts" who were saying that to avoid long term mental problems, that people should be avoiding watching the continual coverage.
The May 1 demonstrations are yet another example of the main-stream-media leaping onto a story to the exclusion of all other news. The organizers are hoping to shutdown major cities in an attempt to demonstrate the economic clout of immigrants.
Time for a Reality Check
America is not against immigration! The entire nation has been built by immigrants who have arrived from distant lands to make America their home. No one is asking anyone to give up their heritage. Most immigrants to America have proudly embraced the virtues of American life and maintained proud ties to their heritage.
Anyone trying to tell you anything different is simply trying to sow seeds of division.
Legal immigrants on talk radio are calling in to express their anger at what they see as illegal immigrants trying to jump to the front of the line.
The May 1 Rallies are not about immigrants, they are about people who have snuck into America. The Washington Post writes, "At table 10 of the Oval Room, a high-price lawyer slurped an $8 bowl of asparagus soup. Over at table 71, a crowd of Office and Management and Budget staffers toasted a retiring colleague, while at table 76, a White House correspondent leaned in to hear what her lunch partner was saying. In the kitchen of the restaurant, there was a different kind of kaleidoscope. The sous-chef, a Panamanian immigrant, directed two cooks from El Salvador, one from Guatemala and one from Honduras. A Salvadoran immigrant ran the food to the tables. All the activity was monitored by the general manager, an Austrian by birth, who needs to satisfy the owner, originally from India."
Note the term immigrant -- legal immigrants are not the issue here. While some in the media seem "stuck on stupid" and are blending legal immigrants with illegal immigrants, it is important to make the distinction.
On May 1 2006, CNN is offering free online coverage of all the rallies via the Internet. Yet while they are reporting and interviewing all of the usual suspects they can, the balance appears to be missing.
After several days of covering the buildup to the May 1 rallies, it is unlikely that they will all of a sudden start reporting that the organizers are tied to the Marxists.
On April 11, 2006, The Washington Times is reported, "One of the key organizers of the immigration protests and rallies nationwide, including yesterday's in Washington, is a group whose leaders are tied to the Workers World Party, a Marxist organization that has expressed support for dictators Kim Jong-il of North Korea and Saddam Hussein of Iraq. Act Now to Stop War and End Racism (ANSWER) Coalition, which also has proposed a nationwide boycott on May 1 to protest congressional efforts at immigration reform and border security, is an offshoot of the International Action Coalition, an anti-capitalism group founded by former Attorney General Ramsey Clark.
"In a press release celebrating a March 25 rally in Los Angeles against immigration-law enforcement that drew an estimated 500,000 people, ANSWER said it helped organize "a major contingent in the march" and provided logistical support. The march was co-chaired by Juan Jose Gutierrez, director of Latino Movement USA, who also is a member of ANSWER's Los Angeles steering committee. "We are people of dignity, and we demand respect," Mr. Gutierrez said at the rally. "This is the beginning of a movement that is going to call for a national work stoppage."
All it takes is a simple Google search for Juan Jose Gutierrez to uncover a few facts. One would have thought somewhere in the main-stream press some intern or cub-reporter might have wanted to dig into this a little more?
Why then are so many of the mainstream media not covering this aspect of these rallies?
Often, as Zombie Time has show in their coverage of anti-American rallies, the mainstream media often doesn't show the entire story.
Immigrants and America
The reality is that the vast majority of illegals don't want to become legal, what they want is their illegal status recognised.
That might sound strange, but think about it for a moment. They don't want to become Americans, they want to be able to have all the benefits without any of the costs or responsibilities.
While the media, and rally organizers try to con Americans that this rally is about how important immigrants are to America, the reality is that this is simply a means to shove a new special status for illegal aliens in America. This is also a means to further divide Americans on what is an important issue.
You probably won't hear many of the talking heads for the main stream media telling you the facts.
That is why it is increasingly important for each of us to continue to share common sense with each other.
