What Obama promises is a new day in America. His policies are much less important than his genetic makeup. Ironically, again, it's all about race, but finally in a good sense. For this country to finally elect a president with black ancestors is huge, and I never thought I'd see it in my lifetime. It would mean everything to the promise of America finally fulfilled. It would mean everything to an entire group of Americans who have felt disenfranchised their whole lives. It would mean everything in the eyes of the rest of the world. I have been so disallusioned for the last 2 to 3 decades, that I gave up voting. Having Obama as a choice makes this conservative Rebublican actually reconsider and vote again. Obama's ability to inspire and bring hope is a genuine quality we haven't seen since Bobby Kennedy in early June of 1968. Having come of ! age in the era of political assassinations in this country, though, I sincerely hope he lives long enough to be elected. Ken Silva. Brownfield, Maine. USA P.S. It was such a pleasure to hear thoughtful discussion on your program, and not the usual yelling, theatre, interruptions, and histrionics we get over here on most of our chat shows.
A government which robs Peter to pay Paul can always count on the support of Paul.
