I must say how frustrating it is to phone up Optus services only to hear a Foreign voice at the other end. I check now to see where I'm calling and it is always India. I think its wrong that Optus make their money out of Australians and give their jobs away to an overseas country, probably because it's cheaper.
I got so sick of it I changed my provider and now pleasantly get a good old Aussie voice on the other end to whom I don't have to spell out every word I say. I suggest other people do the same until Optus starts to support the country it is making a profit from.

Reg,
The problem that you mention is well known and those cunning Indian chaps have overcome it. Don't you know that Indian SPs are now employing Australians to tutor their operators in Aussie Speak ?

India needs the jobs and the money. Us India peeple are the only who will do that employment. G'day Raj and welcome to the debating chamber ;D I agree with you on this one, while it's always prefferable to give work to locals where possible, you are right in that the Indian work force is set up for this type of task, I guess with time the language barrier will become less apparent. I don't care who I talk to as long as we can understand each other. India as I understand things is fast becoming one of the hottest spots for IT/Comms development in the world... if this helps out the millions of poverty stricken people living there I'm all for it.
