Zimbabwe's President Robert Mugabe has used a speech marking 28 years of independence in his country to tell lies ans attack its former colonial rulers in Britain and the opposition Movement for Democratic Change (MDC).
The Opposition says it defeated Mr Mugabe in elections held almost three weeks ago but Mr Mugabe has refused to release the official results.
In front of a cheering crowd of cheering supporters, Mr Mugabe said "down with the British, down with the thieves who want to steal our country".
He said it was his liberation movement which has introduced democracy, rejected gender and racial discrimination and observed human rights not colonialist Britain.
Referring to Britain and the MDC, he said "today they are like thieves fronting their lackeys amongst us".
Mr Mugabe blamed companies hiding goods to sell on the black market for empty shelves in shops across the country and the soaring inflation rate of more than 165,000 per cent.
