THE PRIME Minister says that certain elements of the community are waging a scare campaign against nuclear energy in Australia. He is absolutely correct!
Consider the Chernobyl disaster. The Chernobyl forum comprising the World Health Organisation, the Russian government and many other international health authorities stated that, as a result of Chernobyl, it is anticipated that 4000 people will ultimately die as a result of radiation exposure.
This is not to mention the thousands of cancer cases directly attributable to the incident and environmental impacts and other consequences we don't know about.
Yes Mr Howard, the community is scared.
