Ending race politics It is fitting that the final days of the Howard government are marked by a scandal over race politics. It is still not certain how high up the scandal goes, but it is now clear that senior Liberal Party figures have been distributing unauthorised race based election material in a marginal Western Sydney seat. Unfortunately, yesterday Kevin Rudd also backed away from a commitment to immediately close down the Pacific Island detention centres. This is another reason why we need more Greens in the Senate to stand up for justice for refugees and to work for the end of race politics in Australia. Last chance to help out on election day It is not too late to volunteer to help out on Election Day. You can be part of a history changing election. If you haven't had your polling booth details confirmed yet, email campaign07@nsw.greens.org.au or call us on 02 9519 0877. Democracy for Sale The major parties have spent millions of dollars this election much of it paid for by donations from big corporations. Yesterday Kerry Nettle called on Kevin Rudd to commit to electoral funding reform to end this buying of influence. You can follow the money trail by checking out the Greens website www.democracy4sale.org.au.
