Mr Tom Cruise and Miss Katie Holmes announced the birth of their daughter Suri this week. I am certain this is a joyous moment for the pair, although each time a look at a picture of the TomKat team my mind shifts towards the mysterious religion of Scientology.
I think the silent birth was the protagonist in my decision to finally do a little investigating. I went directly to the official Scientology website where I discovered that the word Scientology actually means “the study of truth.”
Mr L.Ron Hubbard was the founder of Scientology. He was an extraordinary man. Amongst his many accomplishments, there are too many to mention here, he dabbled rather successfully in the art of the writing. His official biography on the site claims that he was capable of producing 100,000 words a month, a huge effort in the world of story telling. Mr Hubbard, or Ron as his devotees call him, specialised in the science fiction genre, and Scientology, or rather the history and beliefs of Scientology, centre around this particular genre.
The modern world is a confusing place for all of us at times, and thankfully Ron found a way to help us cope with all of these modern pressures. All you have to do is cough up a little cash and presto you’re on the path to divine spirituality. Don’t expect to achieve all of the answers in one session, surely your car, your house and even your children’s education are not as important as reaching this higher place.
I also would not worry about the negative reports in the press, or the fact that his followers began wearing white collars after a little raid from the IRS. After all, Scientology is now operating as a church. This should mean that their conduct is completely legitimate.
Ron left the physical earth 1986, of his own choice of course, to continue his teaching of Scientology throughout the universe. He had not been seen for years before his death, however, he maintained his flock from his reclusive existence on a ranch in California. There is also no need to worry about the loss Ron’s writings, as they are kept in airtight capsules to ensure his masterful teaching will be around for at least another 1,000 years.
Ron’s interest in the human condition began when he opened up shop on Sunset Boulevard where he practised different studies of this kind on Hollywood actors, producers and writers. You don’t think his marvellous mind reading machine was created without a lot of research do you?
One cannot fail to see the similarities between the marvellous stories of Scientology and the ancient stories of Christ. Don’t get me wrong, I’m a catholic, and admit that I have a fascination with the historical stories of my faith, even though some are a little scientifically unsound.
Tony Bushy published a book called The Bible Fraud, and on the cover of this book he quotes Pope Leo X (1513-1521), as saying “How well we know what a profitable superstition this fable of Christ has been for us.”
So I guess no matter whether you are a Hollywood actor or a person who lines up to buy the movie tickets, we all need a little faith.
