Artists urged to apply for scenic residenciesTasmanian artists are being invited to apply for residencies in national parks and historic sites for 2007. The State Government's natural and cultural residency program sends artists to 15 inspirational locations throughout the state. The list includes Maatsuyker Island, the Port Arthur and Highfield House historic sites, the Bass Strait islands and Liawenee. The residencies are open to Tasmanian artists working in any medium. The grants cover living expenses, materials and the cost of rental accommodation. I've seen the evidence that makes this a truly wonderful program. It turns lives around.
