America is at war with itself - we have thousands of people killed yearly in America with guns. According to the April 22, 2007, New York Times, 29,569 people lost their lives to guns in 2004. That's an average of 81 people a day. These are real numbers - murder, homicides and suicides. That's 81 people killed every day with guns in America. Why not use real numbers instead of the meaningless per-100,000-people rates the Rocky Mountain News points to ("Lethal rage," Dec. 11).
Gun deaths in America are an epidemic. This epidemic needs to be stopped. The only way to begin doing this is to stop the manufacturing and marketing of weapons whose only purpose is to take human life (handguns, assault rifles, etc.).
And for the crowd out there that buys into the insane notion that people, not guns, kill people - explain to me how these killers in our society would perform these mass killings without them.
I saw that in the Rocky Mountain News A GREAT Letter !!!
