Beazley Vows to Limit U-Turns to One a Day
Kim Beazley has reversed his opinion on Uranium Mining, but has agreed to keep Labor party members in touch by restricting complete policy reversals to no more than one a day, hoping to offset claims he is making things up as he goes along.
This new announcement supersedes an earlier announcement that there would be no policy reversals, which was a u-turn on a proclamation an hour earlier that he was allowed to change his mind if it would win votes. “Or perhaps not” he said, before violently disagreeing with himself.
The Opposition Leader says that the Labor Party will not be damaged by the current debate on uranium mining, although it might be, but possibly not. “I categorically say I'm not sure” he said on radio today – or was it TV.
Beazley objected to Howard's comments that his stance on Uranium Mining was a knee-jerk reaction, before agreeing, then going on the counter-attack against himself, interrupting before he had a chance to complete an earlier objection to a position of his own that he had disagreed with. He is now in a Perth hospital undergoing surgery having severed his epiglottis for trying to speak over himself.
Kim Beazley entered politics after studying at the University of Western Australia, where he lost many debates in the debating society, even though he was the only member present.
